Leila Parnian, a renowned mural artist, has transformed downtown Phoenix with a vibrant new mural on the soon-to-open Saiya Apartment Building.
This 230-foot-tall masterpiece, located near 1st Avenue and McKinley Street, stands as the tallest mural in Arizona.
Parnian freehanded the entire design from top to bottom, working meticulously from a suspended swing stage.
Supported by her two-person team, she persevered through scorching heat and even a summer monsoon over two months of dedicated work.
She hopes the mural’s bold colors and dynamic energy inspire passersby to dream bigger and feel uplifted.
Known also for her talents in furniture design, art instruction, and DJing, Parnian continues to be a driving creative force in Phoenix’s flourishing art scene.

Heavy traffic expected due to project work at airport’s Terminal 3; passengers should allow for extra travel time, enter airport from east and consider using PHX Sky Train®
Project work at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Terminal 3 will be closing a major route through the airport nightly for two weeks. Beginning the evening of Sept. 23, eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard on the north side of Terminal 3 will be closed 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. nightly, through and including the night of Monday, Oct. 6 (opening Tuesday morning, Oct. 7).
All eastbound traffic during those times must detour through Terminal 3’s Inner Curb lanes, which will remain open. Significant traffic delays are expected due to the closure of this key corridor through the airport. |
