Trump Threatens to Revoke Rosie O'Donnell's U.S. Citizenship Amid Ongoing Feud |
President's Remarks Spark Legal Debate and Renewed Public Discourse |
President Donald Trump has escalated his longstanding feud with comedian and talk show host Rosie O'Donnell by suggesting he might revoke her U.S. citizenship.
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship."
He further labeled O'Donnell a "Threat to Humanity" and suggested she remain in Ireland, where she currently resides.
O'Donnell, born in New York, moved to Ireland earlier this year with her 12-year-old son.
She has expressed intentions to return to the U.S. when she believes equal rights are ensured for all citizens.
In response to Trump's remarks, O'Donnell took to Instagram, asserting that the president opposes her because she "stands in direct opposition with all he represents."
She further described Trump as a "criminal con man" and emphasized her commitment to opposing his policies.
Legal experts have pointed out that the U.S. Constitution does not grant the president the authority to unilaterally revoke the citizenship of individuals born in the United States.
O'Donnell's recent criticisms of the administration's handling of environmental and forecasting agencies, especially in light of the deadly Texas floods, have likely intensified this public clash.
As this situation unfolds, it underscores the deepening political divisions and the ongoing discourse surrounding freedom of expression and presidential authority.
